Medicine is one that is integrative and personalized to each pet
Integrative Veterinary Care
Roots is on a mission to truly improve the lives of pets and pet parents. With the best of Eastern and Western healing modalities, we create a whole world of care to treat illness, improve the life of your pet and increase their health. We look at the whole pet, including their lifestyle and wellbeing, to find the root cause and their individual path to wellness. Holistic medicine works to improve wellbeing at all levels using a completely different approach from its counterpart, Western medicine. Holistic methods we offer include: nutrition, acupuncture, herbal therapy, limited homeopathic care, chiropractic therapy, and nutraceuticals. By partnering with you, providing guidance and listening attentively, we create the best care experience possible for you and your pet as we build health together.
Preventative Medicine
We start with comprehensive exams to inform our care and take the time to fully explain our findings to you. Together, we align on a strategy for your pet that promotes health and wellness, discussing nutrition, vaccinations or vaccination titer testing, and lab testing options.
Western Medicine
Yes, we practice western medicine. Western veterinary medicine primarily focuses on diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases in animals using modern medical and surgical techniques. It's an essential aspect of what we do. With a holistic approach, Western medicine becomes a responsible and effective way to improve pet health. It has an important role in treating symptoms and diseases using medicine that can help pet patients at every level.
Surgical Procedures
Our experienced staff is fully trained to provide all types of surgical procedures like spaying/neutering, mass removal, laceration repair, cystotomies and more. We treat each pet as if they were our own, and remain with them from the start of the procedure until they’re fully awake again. And we monitor them carefully with top-of-the-line technology and equipment. For complicated procedures, we’ll make a referral to a trusted hospital or call in a board-certified surgeon.
Dental Care
Dental care is important and can greatly affect your pet’s health. We’ll discuss preventative action with you at each appointment to decrease the need for dental surgery. With the latest digital dental x-rays, we’re able to fully assess the root health of the tooth. As a team, we’ll discuss whether full cleaning under anaesthesia is advisable.
Diagnostics and Testing
We believe in the importance of testing to provide a full picture of health and inform our integrative approach. We go beyond providing digital x-rays and ultrasounds. Working with the best laboratories, we generate comprehensive reports on everything from your pet’s thyroid to specialized heartworm DNA test. For unforeseen emergencies, we run in-house diagnostics so we can respond quickly with immediate results.
Radiology and Ultrasound
With the latest in digital x-ray and ultrasound equipment, we’re ready to provide fast, accurate and radiation-reduced imaging. If we need a second pair of eyes, we have a board-certified radiologist ready to review the results. We also use ultrasonography to detect abnormalities internally if needed.
