Meet Dr. Adam Lassin

Let me begin by stating that this was not written by Dr. Lassin, but instead by someone who has worked closely with him and admires him much more than a few paragraphs on this blog could ever explain. But, I shall attempt anyway to introduce him to you all!

Dr. Lassin attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where he spent four peaceful and enlightening years on the island of St.Kitts devouring all of the knowledge he possibly could. He spent his final clinical year at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and after graduating completed a 1-year internship. During his internship he became certified in Veterinary Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. He knew his mission and passion to help animals went much deeper than the standard set before him.

He moved to the West Coast and proceeded to grow his skills in Western, Eastern, and holistic therapies/modalities, which also included food therapy. Yes, Dr. Lassin is certified in Food Therapy! Who knew food could be part of the healing process for animals! I didn’t until I met him and now can’t believe it took me so long to learn that. These are just a few things that make him so special!

His first official job as a veterinarian was at VCA Arroyo Animal Hospital, where he met his lovely wife Jessica, a veterinary technician who shared the same passion for integrative medicine and helping animals as him. In 2015 he partnered with Dr. Dodds at Hemopet, and together they opened Hemopet Holistic Care. Lucky for us, in 2017 his journey for wellness took the Lassin’s to Austin, Texas. Despite missing the coast they soon learned that Austin would be the place they call home and the best place to share their passion with the world.

After being in Austin for a few years and learning more about the need for integrative veterinary medicine in town, Dr. Lassin and Jessica began their next chapter and started Roots Integrative Veterinary Care. The idea of Roots evolved from Dr. Lassin’s unique approach to integrative veterinary medicine. We’re breaking the standards of medicine one patient at a time.

Dr. Lassin’s dedication to helping animals goes above and beyond with his unique style of integrative medicine. He truly understands and respects both Western and Eastern medicine. I have never met a veterinarian who works with us, the pet owner, to truly get to the root of the problem. He gives us options vs simply telling us what to do. There is no right or wrong answer with Dr. Lassin, only the best option that we, the pet owners, and Dr. Lassin feel is best for our four-legged children.

His passion for integrative medicine continues to grow to this day. He knows the standard approach to veterinary medicine isn’t enough and continues learning and growing to truly break those standards. He is innovating and changing the profession daily, whether with something as small as titer testing (compared to the one-size-fits-all vaccination schedule) or as complex as using whole food nutrition, herbals, medications, and acupuncture to heal animals. Whole food nutrition is at the core of Roots and how powerful of a healing tool it can be, so we’ll be going more into depth about this soon. Truth be told, I could go on for days talking about how our and our pets' lives have changed since meeting Dr. Lassin, and for that, I am forever grateful. It doesn’t matter if your approach is fully western, fully eastern/holistic, or integrative, he listens and makes his veterinary experience a team approach to healing. He gives us all hope when others take it away — and this is what makes him so special! Please follow along and join us in the journey to bring this style of balanced veterinary care to everyone!
