Ahhh, Thanksgiving...a time to sit back and truly think about what you are grateful for. What brings you joy? What makes your heart smile? Who NEVER turns down any of your Thanksgiving dinner? Oh right, your pets!

During these celebratory and delicious times, you can absolutely let your pet have a treat and enjoy some of your deliciously cooked food (in moderation obviously!) but we want to make sure you are aware of what your furry friends can and can’t have for their Thanksgiving dinner.

While we know it can be difficult to say no to your pets, it is very important to make sure your Thanksgiving is not ruined by giving your pet something unsafe and harmful to them.

Don’ts

  • Chocolate Dessert (At this point, most people know that Chocolate is not good for pets but it never hurts to be reminded!)

  • Cooked Turkey bones (they can crack and splinter!)

  • Onions

  • Garlic

  • Stuffing (often made with onions and garlic which is a no no!)

  • Bread dough

  • Corn cobs (corn cobs don’t digest which can lead to obstruction and GI injury)

Okay, now onto the fun part!

Do’s!

  • Skinless light meat turkey (yum!)

  • Mashed potatoes (plain, no butter!)

  • Sweet Potatoes

  • Pumpkin (unsweetened!)

  • Green beans

  • Carrots

  • Apple slices

With all of the tasty Do’s listed above, we know your pet will enjoy their Thanksgiving feast all the while thinking about how grateful they are to have YOU!
